2 trade candidates to adjust the roster

The The New York Knicks hit rough patch of late, losers of five of their last six games as their journey to the Western Conference continues, last including loss to the Phoenix Suns. While injuries have played a somewhat important role, some have wondered if the Knicks might be motivated to try to shake up their roster as the NBA trade deadline approaches in about a month.

NBA insider Marc Stein recently reported on two names which the Knicks could use as a vehicle for potential changes on the fringes of their roster.

“League sources say Guerschon Iabusele and Pacome Dadiet are available before the Feb. 5 trade deadline to potentially set the Knicks up for minor tweaks,” Stein reported on his Substack.

Dadiet and Iabusele have played sparingly under head coach Mike Brown this season, and it doesn’t seem likely that the Knicks will be able to land anyone capable of changing the trajectory of their season in exchange for their services.

Still, New York has shown a willingness to be aggressive over the past few seasons, including trading Karl-Anthony Towns before the start of last year, as well as signing Jordan Clarkson, who has been a revelation so far in the summer of 2025-26.

Right now, the Knicks are looking for ways to maximize the talents of Towns, who has seen a pretty significant drop in his production during the team’s slump. Meanwhile, role players like Tyler Kolek also saw their scoring drop as the team began to struggle.

Either way, the Knicks will next be on the road Sunday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, with Josh Hart returning to the lineup to face his former team.

After that, their trip to the West Coast will continue against the Sacramento Kings.
