2 trade untouchables with Sacramento ‘open for business’

It’s been a disastrous season so far for the Sacramento Kingsbut they pulled off one of the most surprising wins of the 2025-26 NBA campaign on Saturday night when they went on the road and knocked out the Denver Nuggets. Still, that likely won’t change anyone’s long-term view of the Kings, who have a roster full of aging veterans who don’t gel with each other.
That being the case, many expect the Kings to launch a full-on sale, and recently NBA insider Jake Fisher shed some light on line of thinking of the organization in that respect.
“One team definitely open for business: Sacramento. Perhaps this was inevitable after a 41-point loss to the Grizzlies without Morant, but league sources say the Kings are willing to listen to offers for roster players … especially Sacramento’s veterans,” Fisher reported on Marc Stein’s on Substack.
However, he named two players who are unlikely to be included in trade talks.
“Just don’t count on your favorite team getting a recently re-signed contract.” Keegan Murray. … or a prized first-round pick last June Nickue Clifford. “Sources say both will be off the table in the upcoming trade negotiations,” he said.
Fisher also added that ‘general manager Scott Perry realistically understands that he has to undertake a multi-year rebuild,’ rather than trying to assemble a competent team with what they currently have in the locker room.
At this point, it’s unclear what value the Kings could get for players like DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine given their ages, but it’s possible there’s still a decent market for center Domantas Sabonis.
Either way, the Kings will take the floor next on Monday night at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
