22. LeBron James’ All-Star appearance headlines a list of 14 reserves

For the Eastern Conferencethe reserves included Mitchell along with the Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen JohnsonDetroit Pistons center Jalen Durenthe New York Knicks big man Karl-Anthony TownsMiami Heat guard Norman Powell, Indiana Pacers forward Pascal Siakam and Toronto Raptors forward Scotty Barnes.

Meanwhile, Edwards was named the West’s backup, along with Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, Denver Nuggets guard Jamal MurrayOklahoma City Thunder big man Chet HolmgrenHouston Rockets forward Kevin DurantPhoenix Suns guard Devin Bookerand a wing for the Portland Trail Blazers Danny Avdia.

This is James’ 22nd All-Star selection, after many fans speculated that he would not make it this year after missing the first part of the season with an injury.

Meanwhile, notable first-time All-Stars include Murray, Johnson and Duren, among others.

All-Star reserves were voted on by NBA head coaches, who could only vote within their conference and were not allowed to select players on their team.
