Draymond Green of the Warriors has a discovery that has yielded a “prettier” version

Before The Golden State Warriors take on the Toronto Raptors Monday night marked an important year for the star Draymond Green compared to last season when he was suspended multiple times due to physical conflicts. Doc Green’s status with the Warriors is up in the air for Mondaythere is no doubt that he feels that there has been a change between the two seasons in terms of himself.

Green would tell ESPN that while he is a “Really, really, really nice guy,” he still has the competitive edge that everyone knows and loves because he will “fight you tooth and nail to the end. Still, with the amount of mental turmoil Green went through in such physical confrontations with Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns and Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves, he says there has been a shift.

“Things are completely different,” Green said. “I’m different.”

While there are trash talk from Green to Nurkic and he still pushes others’ buttons on the field himself, it hasn’t resulted in the chaos that ensued last year when he served an indefinite suspension. One who has noticed this change is a close friend of Green’s and one who played for his alma mater at Michigan State in Travis Walton who described him as “prettier.”

“He’s more intentional,” Walton said. “He’s softer with things. Maybe when he’s ready to erupt (in practice), he says, ‘Let me look at it from another perspective,’ (where) the old Draymond would go. Old Draymond would have a lot more to say than Draymond now. That’s a nicer Draymond.”

So far this season, Green is averaging 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from the bench. He is still a key part of being one of the leaders of the team and the presence of veterans along with Stephen Curry as a reference to Warriors and Green himself due to soul loss.

Despite Golden State getting off to a hot start, they have lost a lot of luster as they are now 19-19 and have lost six of their last 10 contests. He would talk about his physicality with opposing players, which might be a way to lift the team if they were struggling, but he admitted there had to be another way.

“I hate to lose,” Green said, via ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk , about what matters. “If I’m losing, you’re going to raise everything you’ve got to change it.” With that comes high emotion. With that comes a commitment that, frankly, is not very welcome in this league. And so it’s a challenge. I just have to realize that (pushing the line) can’t be the way, that my teammates need me there.”

“Shit, everybody get up!” Green continued when asked how the team can regain its winning ways. “No, I’m just playing.” It’s just that you’re really in the mix … causing havoc, creating change. When things go wrong, who will be there to prevent (negative) body language from (becoming contagious)? Having that advantage.”

As mentioned, Golden State is 19-19, which puts them in 11th place in the Western Conference as they prepare to take on the Raptors on Monday.
