WWE Hall of Famers reflect on booing Hulk Hogan

When Hulk Hogan was booed during his big return to VVE on RAVThe Netflix debut turned heads around the world.
The fans had attemptssocial media lost it and the media followed it like crazy, but what did the boys in the back think of the ordeal? Well, on his Off The Top podcast, Rikishi explained how he felt about the situation, noting that he was surprised by the reaction but hoped that WWE he draws the correct lesson from appearances.
“I was surprised.” You know what I mean, because it was like a celebration. It wasn’t like a Republican or Democratic or presidential race. You know what I mean? So I guess he got heat from people here in LA, it was weird. Here’s the guy who paved the way. Hogan put wrestling on the map. He did a lot for the business. (He was there) to celebrate something huge, to go over the Netflix partnership,” Rikishi recalled to Fightful.
“When they were playing his music, Jimmy (Hart) came out now, so you see the American flag. “Okay, USA. We are here.’ Blah, blah, blah. Then people knew Hogan was coming out, and then I didn’t know if my ears were saying what I was hearing exactly when you hear ‘Boo!’ and I said, ‘These people really don’t like Hogan. Hey, one thing about WWE Universe, when you hear them, they feel exactly like that. Yes, sir, you know, I mean, so you can’t shove it down people’s throats. Once they don’t like you, they will definitely let you know.”
A surprising development? Eh, maybe so, but Rikishi wasn’t the only WWE Hall of Famer to pick up on the situation, as Rob Van Dam also weighed in on the situation from his own perspective.

Hogan’s assessment is rough RAV appearing on your own podcast, 1 of a kind with RVDthe former ECV Champion broke down the situation, noting that Hogan just he can’t seem to get out of the wayand the fans are over it.
“I’ve seen video of the Hulk Hogan segment of the show on every website and news platform there is online. Everyone figured it out, and they still do. Why is that such big news? ‘A pro wrestler is booed at a wrestling event.’ I understand why it’s so hot. I mean, Hogan, he’s controversial and quite possibly the most recognizable celebrity on the planet, so I get where it’s hot, but they light him, and let him cool, light him, light him, he cools. He always goes through cycles and always seems to mostly dig himself out and then dig himself back in,” RVD noted via Fightful.
“Hey, I’m trying to figure out why everyone is so into this Hulk Hogan booed moment. I think maybe one factor I suspect, but I don’t know, is that everyone wants to fake wrestling so much. People don’t like to feel like they don’t understand something, but they want to believe they understand how it all works. I think people, maybe one of the reasons it’s such a big topic is because people think, ‘This wasn’t their plan. VVE didn’t want people booing him. Hulk didn’t want people booing him. He was supposed to get a big cheer, and the people don’t like him, so they booed him.’ I think that may be part of the interest because they try to fake and rig instead of just going with the rolls. Try it, and hey, guess what? That happened. Any other promo, Hulk would just roll with them. “We need to change some things bro.” I don’t see how that’s such a big deal. I’m a little confused by that.”
Is RVD on the money? That depends on your opinion, but one thing is absolutely certain: WWE and Hogan did not expect to receive such a reaction in LA. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have appeared at all.
