Red Sox and Jaren Duran agree to $3.85 million contract through 2025

The Boston Red Soc and outfielder Jaren Duran are allegedly in agreement to a $0.385 million contract for the 2025 season to avoid arbitration, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. According to Passan, the deal also includes an $8 million club option for 2026.

Duran was selected to his first career MLB All-Star Game 2024 The outfielder has shown signs of potential in previous seasons, and took a big step forward during the ’24 campaign. He ended up slashing .285/.342/.492/.834 in 160 games played. Duran also hit 21 home runs and led the league with 48 doubles and 14 triples. Duran also added 34 stolen bases.
It was a big season for Duran. The Red Sox hope he can continue to play at a high level as they look to compete soon. After an up-and-down campaign in 2024, the Red Sox are looking to make the postseason in 2025.

However, Boston would like to add more talent around Duran. The The Red Sox have been linked with Alex Bregman in free agencybut it remains to be seen whether the deal will be completed. However, Boston has already made a number of upgrades, such as acquiring Garrett Crochet via trade from the Chicago White Sox.
Competition in the American League East will continue to be tough. The New York Yankees, fresh off a World Series appearance, have found a way to upgrade their roster despite losing Juan Soto in free agency. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Orioles look to be competitive again, while the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays could make some noise in the division as well.
With all that said, the Red Sox are feeling confident heading into the 2025 campaign. Jaren Duran is looking to establish himself as one of the best players in the sport with a second straight All-Star season.
