Billy Donovan’s honest thoughts on the wild Bulls-Hornets finish

CHICAGO – The Chicago Bulls have now lost four games in a row like them withdrew from the domestic competition against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night. The Hornets took a comfortable lead in the first half, but the Bulls didn’t go down without a fight. Chicago was able to come back and take the lead late in the third quarter, but a rough start to the fourth saw Charlotte take a 14-point lead with less than five minutes remaining. The Bulls almost came back, but lost 125-123.
The end of this one was exciting as The Bulls took care of the Hornets lead by one in the final minutes. It ended with the Bulls down two with the ball, and they got the kick they wanted to take the lead. Unfortunately, it didn’t fall.
“I thought Zach (LaVine) played great, it was a two-point game, we were trying to give him the edge down the stretch,” Bulls coach Billy Donovan he told the media after the game. “I thought Vooch (Nikola Vucevic) did a great job with the seal, he got it where he wanted it. I thought Zach did a great job with the contact. They sent him two, Vooch came back and we got a good look from the top of the key. I was completely fine with the execution.”
After a failure, Zach LaVine he was able to find the rebound and also attempted a 3-pointer that would have given the Bulls the lead. That one didn’t fall either.

“Zach found the loose ball, I thought he was trying to shoot fake, maybe get it in the air, maybe foul,” Donovan said. “I think it’s a good shot for us.”
Vucevic did everything right on Friday night as he finished with 40 points on 17/25 shooting. However, that last miss was the most important.
In this four-game losing streak, The Bulls have now lost on two teams that had less than 10 wins at the time of the game. Chicago will hope to end this skid on their upcoming road trip that will keep them away from home for three games. First up is the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night.
