Heat breaks silence on Jimmy Butler’s second suspension

The The Jimmy Butler saga continues to rage in Miamiand the whereabouts of the coveted star point guard has become a bigger story for the Heat than their play on the floor. On Wednesday, the Heat suspended Butler for two games because he missed the team flight to Milwaukee for the team’s game against the Bucks on Thursday.
After the decision was announced, the team issued a statement about suspension on social networks.
“We have suspended Jimmy Butler for two games for his continued disregard for team rules, unruly conduct and conduct detrimental to the team, including missing the team’s flight to Milwaukee today,” the statement read.
This is it second time this season that Butler has been suspended by the team after the Heat sent him home for seven games for his comments that indicated he wanted a trade and had “lost his joy” on the floor with the team. Now, Butler will once again be out of the lineup as the Heat front office continues to try to find a trade partner for him.

Butler has played just three games since returning since his initial suspension and failed to score 20 points in any of them, the Heat losing two of them. All in all, he has started to disrupt a team that is trying to make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, and now it seems that a trade is inevitable.
The The Phoenix Suns appear to be the most likely destination for Butler, since they have the salary to bring back Bradley Beal and the willingness and desperation to make a big move. Now that Butler continues to do things to get the team to suspend him, he could speed up the trade process.
Whichever team Butler ends up on, he’s getting a great player in the playoffs when he’s focused and locked in. Butler can be a secondary scorer and a great complementary cutter and guard for any offense, while also providing value as a very good wing defender on the other end. The Heat aren’t getting it out of Butler anymore as he appears to have checked out mentally, but another team will likely benefit from those skills very soon.
