Lions send heartfelt message to Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn
The The Detroit Lions’ offseason has officially begunthey showed appreciation for their offensive and defensive coordinator afterward of their departure from the organization. Ben Johnson was hired to be next head coach of the Chicago Bears earlier this weekwhile Aaron Glenn was signed by the New York Jets on Wednesday.
The Lions sent both coaches off on a bittersweet note, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter on X, formerly Twitter.
Together, Johnson and Glenn have played a major role in the Lions’ rise to the NFC over the past two seasons. Their leadership along with the head coach Dan Campbell he reshaped the culture of a franchise that had previously struggled for consistency in previous years.

Campbell has a difficult task, but to his credit, his job as head coach and leader of the Lions has been outstanding over four seasons. So he understands that finding suitable substitutes on his coaching staff won’t happen overnight.
“I think we have guys on staff that I think are more than qualified and would be outstanding in those roles (offensive and defensive coordinator), but that doesn’t mean I’m not looking outside as well,” Campbell said, via CBS’ Garrett Podell Sports. “I want what I believe will be as close as possible to what we were.” We do not lose what we are about and our identity. … We will stay true to who we are. If you are someone who is not comfortable with that, this is not the job for you.
“I’m not going to rush. I’m not crazy. I want to do what’s right for our team, and what I believe they’re going to do, those guys are going to be able to stand in front of that room and command respect and get everybody going in the same direction. And in the end, I will deliver the same message that I deliver.”
