Ronnie 2k spoke with clutches on NBA 2K26 and some grades that had fans in their arms in the last few weeks.
——
Tomer Azarli: Thank you for taking the time Ronnie. Before we enter the grades, what are some of the things that you are so excited you can share?
Ronnie 2k: So, for me, three things that keep my heads before we enter Mojčarski and the city. The number one is a game. I mean, there are so many improvements that are as placed together that are made like a huge jump in terms of play. As the game speed is worse, the way you drill, the way you catch and shoot, the way you play against the post office. And I know everyone will probably feel them small, but they like in the aggregate are extremely incredible what plays like play together. It’s a game. I mean our game was a top industry for years and such an emphasis on that better. It’s just extraordinary what Mike (Wang) and the team work there.
The number two is like lighting and shading. It looks visually better, which is kind of crazy because we didn’t jump the consoles. But as if I don’t know if you feel the same way, but it looks dramatically visually better what is extraordinary.
And then the third thing, you know, all the new things that come to my team, I’m really excited to play women with men and I can put Stephen (Curk) and Caitlin and Shak (O’Neal) and Angel (Reese) on the front court. Like it’s pretty extraordinary. That is why I look forward to seeing which teams together and build five MITEAM.
Tomer Azarli: So give us a little behind the scenes, see if you can. What is the assessment system? How do you behave you gather the grades?
Ronnie 2k: Yes, there are 30 unusual mini ratings and mini attributes that are cooked in a formula and it is based solely on field performance. In some cases, like young people, aren’t it? We don’t have a ton of sample information about them play against other NBA people. Thus, their can be dramatically increased or reduced based on performance as you would expect, and then people who are in league 10 or 15 years. That’s a little sticky, isn’t it? Like they’re an assessment somehow you’d expect.
Lebron and Steph. I think they both are down since last year. People like Giannis and Jokic remained around the same. You would expect that, but as someone like Cenningham, it was three or four years and missed a good piece of early parts in your career just jumped six points. (Victor Vembaniama) Cenes we jumped six points, so a lot of people will grow. But it is a huge amount of effort from the team of visual concepts, a lot of thoughts that enters it. Both those mini attributes with a film film and formula that converts it into this number. This one number that creates many questions for me (in joke).

Tomer Azarli: So we sent ahead about it, but how many people are in a team that chooses and put assessments?
Ronnie 2k: There are several people on a rating rating that headed up in raising Michael Stauffers, who does a great job. And they think all things are grade. They really don’t have much other things to do because it’s so big for us. I think, definitely think about how this rating contributes to different aspects of our game, not just obviously fast game, don’t they? It’s like you have to think about Miteam, you need to think about the rest (games regimes), so it’s kind of as it works. But yes, somewhere along the line, and I don’t know how I agreed to do it, but somewhere along the line I became the person people angry. So, you know, it’s fun.
Tomer Azarli: I wanted to say, was one of the factors in the rating, “quality of life” for you?
Ronnie 2k: I guess they’re kicked, my quality of life. Not just kidding. It was great. Like what is an amazing thing for representation, this company and its development and growth and growth – in my case – 18 years old, but now we have done it so much extraordinary how much this game came and that people even occurred.
Tomer Azarli: Shai Gilgeous-Aleksandar massive year with NBA MVP, championship, final MVP. What came into him that athlete is an armor and how is it aligned with what you wanted to represent?
Ronnie 2k: Well, wait. When you passed and I talked last year, didn’t we talk about Shai and that I was like, ‘probably on the short list. Obviously, we didn’t know if it happened so fast, but I think it was in one of our conversations last year. I’m just a big believer and he’s a big fan of our game. A lot of its values are aligned with what we try to do with music and fashion and obviously basketball. So, a lot was kind of working together together, but it all starts with performance in the field and obviously what is a phenomenal year and he did to class and dignity. It is pretty extraordinary what has done in the last 12 months.
Tomer Azarli: So it starts with a total of 98 in the NBA 2K26, but it is ranked no. 2 Behind Denver Nuggets Star Nikola Jokić. How can you explain why the second is in that despite being 98?
Ronnie 2k: That’s a great question. So, they many attributes, it’s not 98 is the number we give you. 98 visually as if there is a decimal point on that right? Don’t ask me because I don’t really know the difference between them, but I’m sure it’s pretty infinite, but yes (Nikola) Jokic was shai, though it was obvious that Shai comes out of the MVP of the year and the NBA Championship. I think part of it is in my opinion – and it is not based on actual statistics or anything – is the longevity of that. It’s like it’s something Jokic works for him. He is a multi-year MVP, it could be easy to be MVP last year. I think there is an argument that it is a proper call. We didn’t really get a lot of hips about it. I think everyone was like, “Oh yes, it makes sense.” I bet even Shai would fully understand that. Maybe I’ll ask him next week when I see him next week.

Tomer Azarli: Nikola Jokić apparently provided the upper place among the players in the ratings to start NBA 2K26. He showed a longevity and does not seem to slow.
Ronnie 2k: Seems not to slow down at all. I mean, he’s a prototypic big guy and he does it while it looks like he barely worried about the game, but it’s outstanding. I mean the numbers he puts, play, play, play every game, stays healthy. I think it’s underestimated in his game. He wears that franchise, he’s all he wants in the star. He constantly sets three times doubled, he does everything, he does not convert a lot. Like everything and I think it was hard to knock him off my variety, but Shai has become really close and we have a whole season to play to see what happens.
Tomer Azarli: How hard is the guy like Victor Vembania to get married in the game? I mean, it starts this game as a total of 94, but make the case that it could end all year as 99.
Ronnie 2k: Well, you can also make a case that it could end like a total of 85. As, it’s crazy. That range is because he is the opposite, isn’t it? As if he had a small sample size, he missed three months last year at the end of the year, but his potential was excluded with graphs and when it was in the field, he was amazing. I mean, he’s completely unstoppable, insecure, and he’s so young, he could go upstairs. I definitely think that there is a case that he could be our first 99, assuming that one of those other guys did not get there.
I guess our only 99 years old outside Michael Jordan was Stephen Curri that there was a year from the NBA 2K16 when he was unanimous MVP and hit 402 triple shocks. It will be difficult to duplicate, but I think Vemby throws his thing and will be pretty extraordinary to watch it and watch him haunt him 99. I’m sure it’s important to him.
Tomer Azarli: The most highest list of ratings I’ve seen so far is a list of middle range jumpers. That, many people seemed to react to Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Aleksandar was technically ranked on the heel, and then Kavhi Leonard doesn’t rank anywhere in that ten.
Ronnie 2k: Yes, let me talk about it. I think many people see things in terms of volume or feelings and both are wrong. What is really based is from 36 or regardless of the metric that we have this based on how often they are filming it and how much you succeed. I saw this example: I think if you look at the three-point list, it’s actually even more relevant. You have Isaiah Joe, who even the starter is neither a starter on the thunder, and I think it’s 5. On that list or something like that. As well as that is because its numbers from 36 only Stephene Curry, he shoots, I think it makes it five every 36 minutes, so that much uh, so that much is based on 36, so that much is based on 36 -30.
