Trae Young Trolls Rumors With LeBron James-Style Faking

On Tuesday evening, Atlanta Hawks rush hour Trae Young is briefly upset fan base by teasing an interview with NBA commentator Adam Lefkoe, seemingly hinting at his reported displeasure with the team’s contract situation. The move comes just days after the Los Angeles Lakers star Obviously a big announcement from LeBron James it turned out to be nothing more than an advertisement.

On Wednesday, Hawks fans breathed a collective sigh of relief when it turned out that Young’s video announcement was something similar, his partnership with the Crooked Tea team. At the end of the video, he said, “It’s just business,” referencing an earlier post on X, formerly Twitter, with the same message that had fans buzzing.

All in all, Young’s false alarm could have caused another major buzz from the NBA community after James’ similar decision, but Hawks fans will surely be glad it wasn’t something more.

The Atlanta Hawks are now less than a week away from the start of their most anticipated season in years. Atlanta’s front office, led by newly minted general manager Onsi Saleh, has been busy this offseason, trading both Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, signing Nikhil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard, drafting Asa Newell and cheating the New Orleans Pelicans out of a potentially hugely valuable 2026 first-round pick.

The only situation that remains unresolved revolves around Tree Young’s contract. Marc J. ESPN’s Spears reported that Young was “disappointed” the Hawks didn’t offer him an extension, but the All-Star appears content to play out the rest of the year and then potentially hit free agency next summer, where he’s sure to have plenty of suitors.

In the short term, though, Young was surrounded by by far the best roster of his career, filled with length, shooting and rim protection, all the things he needs to highlight his strengths and help cover his weaknesses.

The Hawks will open the season on October 22 at home against the Toronto Raptors.
