AJ Styles teases a shift in gear amid retirement rumors
2026 legendary WWE star AJ Styles will retireand his farewell tour it could come with a gear change for the “Phenomenal”.
After a recent non-televised live event, Styles spoke to the crowd. He admitted it may be the last time Australian audiences see him, at least in his current gear.
“I just want to thank you for cheering and being some of the best fans in the world,” he said via WrestleTalk. “But here’s the truth – I probably won’t see you in a shirt like this again. So I just wanted you to know, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.”
He said it might be the last time they see him in a “single,” but not in wrestling gear at all. Maybe he’s planning to go back to shorts from TNA, like he did vs. John Cena in Crown Jewel.
AJ Styles will retire from WWE in 2026

Styles recently revealed that he plans to retire from in-ring competition in 2026. “I will definitely retire in the next year,” he said. “I don’t want the fans to see me as anyone but AJ Styles. That’s the main reason. I’ve decided to retire before my body can’t move anymore.”
He would later double the decision in a Crown Jewel pre-show. Stiles revealed that the decision came down to his age and that he wanted to go out on his own.
“I’m getting old, people,” Stiles explained. “Listen, if I could find the Fountain of Youth and take a few sips, I’d wrestle for the rest of my life.
“But I’m getting older, the fear of embarrassment is getting closer, and you know what, there comes a time in a man’s life when he has to take care of work, but when the work is done, it’s time to take care of his family. I have to spend time with my family. The whole idea with wrestling and having a great future in this business is to be able to retire, and I’ll be back,” he continued.
