This season Trae Young will play well for a new contract
Rumors have been circulating for several weeks etc The Athletic just put an end to the speculation: Trae Young will not get a new contract from Hawks before continuing. However, he will have a whole season to encourage his managers to offer him one, under penalty of possibly seeing him on the loose in the summer of 2026!
Because after receiving $46 million in the 2025-26 season, the four-time All-Star would then have the choice to accept or decline his “ player option » of 49 million dollars for the 2026/27 season. By getting out of his contract, he could sign anywhere he wants, starting next offseason.
« I am focused on the team, on the present » he explained recently. ” I’ve got a great team to start the season and you can’t say that’s always been the case… So I’m even more excited about that. Who knows what my future will hold? For now, I’m here and I’m ready for work. »
Suffice it to say that they are leadersAtlanta they are taking a big risk by not re-signing Trae Young until 2026.
But, eager to see what their new team is capable of, composed in part by their leaderthey prefer to play on time. While they will also have to manage – with more or less security – files Dyson Daniels, Kristaps Porzingis and Luke Kennard in the coming weeks. Even in the coming months…
Player option : the ability for the player to activate (or not) the last year of his contract, to end the lease or become a “free agent” one year in advance.
