Xavier Tillman uses his evenings for training
Xavier Tillman is about to enter his sixth season in the NBA after the 2024/25 campaign in which he was unable to play only 33 gamesbetween personal problems and a knee injury. A few days before the first match against the Sixers, the striker assures that he feels completely confident again after the off-season in which he revealed that he has lost a little more than five kilograms.
“I was afraid to jump because I didn’t know if my knee would be able to withstand the shock” by Xavier Tillman. “Now I feel like I can cut and jump and do all that stuff. It gives me the confidence to be more aggressive on defense and that’s what’s going to help the team a lot.”
To warm up for the start of this new season, Xavier Tillman stood out as a “game winner” during the Celtics’ final preseason game. against the Raptors. Action that rewards all the work the winger does, especially during night training.
Workaholic
“It’s mostly about accepting that I’m not comfortable. The easy choice would be to not do my… what I call my ‘night labs’, these night recording sessions. The goal is to not be comfortable”underlines the Boston winger. “What would be nice is not to do these late sessions, just stay at home and relax and be happy with everything I already have.”
Xavier Tillman explains that during his sessions he focuses a lot on his recording, but that a significant part of his work is focused on physical maintenance.
“You also have to do all those extra stretches, treatments, massages all the time. Even when you tell yourself, ‘I’m not that sore,’ you have to do it to stay in your best shape for as long as possible.”he added. “Preparations, for me, are almost better than the match itself. Because you see your own progress, again and again. In matches there are victories and defeats. But in work, while you give your best, there are no real defeats. And that’s great.”
