Dennis Smith Jr. writes about the players Dallas gave up

“It’s crazy (to be back),” Smith said, via NBA.com’s Eddie Sefko . “In the middle of me getting ready to be traded the first time, Devin Harris mentioned it to me. He was like, he was here in Dallas and he was traded and he came back and had success. So that’s what he mentioned then.”

With the Mavericks looking to find depth at guard and Kyrie Irving set to miss time to start the season, Smith had a good chance to make the roster. He was injured on the first day of pre-season training, but has still been able to show what he can do over the past few weeks.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough for Smith to make the roster, and it will be interesting to see if another team takes a chance on him. If not, he could return to the Europa League, where he played last season for Real Madrid.
