Domantas Sabonis will miss the season opener with a hamstring injury



The Sacramento Kings are set to take on the Phoenix Suns in the season opener on October 22nd. However, the club will have to start the 2025-26 campaign. without its star center, Domantas Sabonisdue to injury.

Reports indicate that Sabonis, who is 29, is turned off to start the season with a hamstring problem, according to Brett Siegel. Drew Eubanks will have to take over the starting role for now.

“Sacramento Kings All-Star center Domantas Sabonis will begin the 2025-26 season with a strained left hamstring, league sources told ClutchPoints.

The three-time All-Star was said to have suffered a 1st degree tendon strainaccording to senior insider Chris Haynes. The Kings will re-evaluate Domantas Sabonis in a week from Saturday’s report. Which means the star center has a chance to return on October 24 when Sacramento plays the Utah Jazz in the second game of the season.

It sounds like Sabonis may have avoided a serious injury, which is great news for the Kings. Even so, hamstring injuries persist, so Sacramento may want to be cautious moving forward. The organization will likely provide more updates once the regular season is over.

Sabonis is entering the 10th year of his career. He has been one of the players for most of his NBA tenure. Domantas Sabonis from a a jump machine that also helps in scoring.
