Sheddon Sharpe gets $90 million contract extension



The Portland Trail Blazers made it a priority to lock down key parts of their core before the start of the regular season, starting with a contract extension for defensive star Toumani Kamara. The Trail Blazers continued to lock their listagreeing to extend the contract with Shaedon Sharpe on Sunday, according to Shams Charani of ESPN.

Sheddon Sharp extended his contract with the Trail Blazers to four years and $90 million. A former lottery pick, Sharpe was selected 7th overall by the Trail Blazers in the 2022 NBA Draft. Sharpe is entering his fourth NBA season and has become one of the key pieces for the Blazers.

While offseason speculation suggested that a a potential contract extension with Sharpe could reach north of $100 millionThe Blazers were able to keep the deal under that number. Sharp has improved every season in the NBA, though he was mostly a backup in his three years with the Blazers.

Last season, Sharp appeared in 72 games for the Blazers, including 52 starts, logging just over 31 minutes per game. He averaged a career-high 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 45.2 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from the three-point line and 78.5 percent from the free throw line.

During the preseason so far, Sharp has looked even better than last season. He appeared in four preseason games with the Blazers, averaging 19.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals on 45.2 percent shooting from the field, 32.1 percent from the three-point line and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.

The Blazers have been mired in a rebuild and have missed the playoffs in the last four seasons. They will open the 2025-26 regular season on Wednesday, October 22 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
