The Nets are already releasing Kobe Bufkin

Drafted at 15th position in 2023. Kobe Bufkin already found himself without a contract! According to ESPNTHE Networks have decided to part ways just days before the start of the regular season…

Coming to Brooklyn last September in a simple exchange for money, the former Hawks player did not get to establish himself. Handicapped by injuries since his NBA debut, the 22-year-old “combo guard” has played just 27 short games in two seasons, averaging 5.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists on 37% shooting, 22% three-pointers and 65% free throws.

Trained at Michigan, Kobe Bufkin made mostly G-League and Summer League appearances, but a lack of physical consistency slowed his development. On the Nets’ end, the competition for his position hasn’t helped: Nolan Traore, Egor Demin etc Ben Saraf at station 1; Cam Thomas, Terrence Mann, Drake Powell etc Tyrese Martin at position 2… Suffice it to say, the rotation was already pretty full.

The result: Brooklyn prefers to clear a roster spot, even if it means paying the $4.5 million Kobe Bufkin was due in 2025-26. A logical decision given the situation… but a real blow for the player, who will have to go back elsewhere to restart his career, even though he just celebrated his 22nd birthday.
