Pablo Torre Highlights ‘Craziest Thing’ About Kawhi Leonard Bombshell Contrasted With Steve Ballmer

The biggest story heading into the 2025-26 NBA season for the Los Angeles Clippers is the ongoing investigation of an NBA team into alleged no-show collusion shot by Kawhi Leonard to help the organization work around the league’s salary cap. If that turns out to be true, the consequences could be dire for the Clippers, with many pointing to the 2001 Minnesota Timberwolves as a precedent.

Owner Steve Ballmer and the Clippers have denied the allegations, which were first reported by sports reporter Pablo Torre. However, a recent Wall Street Journal article that essentially recycled Torre’s coverage without even mentioning him until the very end failed to confirm one key detail that Torre has since left for X, formerly Twitter. break down

“In December 2021, (Aspiration co-founder Joe Sanberg told a high-ranking Aspiration executive that the Clippers had approached him about a deal for Leonard, their injured star. The executive recalled Sanberg saying, ‘This is important to the Clippers,'” the article said.

“But the craziest thing about this new WSJ Aspiration story is that this huge story I’ve been circling — which *directly contradicts what Steve Ballmer said to ESPN* — got buried halfway through. This is big,” Torre reported on X, formerly Twitter.

Ballmer claimed during a recent interview with ESPN that Aspiration asked the Clippers to meet with Leonard, but this reporting indicates the opposite is true, which is not great news for Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, as the investigation continues, the Los Angeles Clippers are trying to prepare for the upcoming season, one in which they will battle the oldest roster in the NBA other than the Golden State Warriors.

Leonard entered the season seemingly healthy for the first time in a while, but it remains to be seen if that will remain the case throughout the year.

In any case, the Clippers will open their season on October 22 on the road against the Utah Jazz.
