LeBron James is helping the Lakers study film while sidelined with sciatica

Although LeBron James he couldn’t play in Los Angeles Lakers‘ opening the season, he makes sure they learn from their defeat Golden State.
Coach JJ Redick said James was “really helpful” during a film session Wednesday as the Lakers examined their performance in 119-109 defeat.
James won’t be ready to start his unprecedented 23 NBA season for at least a few weeks with sciatica, but has a strong interest in the team’s work off the court in an effort to get the Lakers off to a decent start without him, Redick said.
“I told them (that) it’s so healthy that he’s asking questions, that he’s giving input, that we have a back and forth,” Redick said. “I wish we had a dialogue and an exchange of questions and questions every time we shoot and teach. Got a question? Speak up. If you want to say something, speak up. It’s been good.”
James watched the game on the Lakers’ bench in a suit, sitting a little above his teammates in a high-upholstered seat that Draymond Green jokingly called “his Phil Jackson chair.” James didn’t show much emotion as the Lakers trailed by 17 points in the third quarter and eventually mounted a rally that fell short, but he watched.
James did not participate in training camp or the preseason while managing the nerve issues that plagued him prior to the start of camp. The Lakers have not put a precise timetable on James’ absence, but he hopes to return in November.
After committing 20 turnovers and giving up too many open 3-point attempts by the undersized Warriors, Los Angeles clearly has a lot of work to do. Minnesotawho eliminated the Lakers from the first round of the playoffs last spring, is visiting the downtown Lakers Arena on Friday night.
But the Lakers had a 43-point performance Luka Dončićwho showed his improved fitness and focus as he grabbed 12 rebounds and nine assists in a remarkable effort.
Doncic required additional treatment after the game for an apparent groin strain, but the Lakers are optimistic Doncic was right when he said the injury was “probably nothing.”
He seems to be fine,” said Redik about Doncic. “I don’t think it’s anything important. He was treated this morning and we didn’t practice for long, but he was a participant in training.
