Sean Payton shut down critics who called the play after the Giants’ comeback

While the veteran head coach acknowledged some of the Broncos offensive woesit’s clear Peyton doesn’t see himself as part of the problem. “I didn’t think about giving up play calling, even for a short period of time,” Payton said. “I think as an offensive staff we’re comfortable with how we’re doing,”

Broncos once again he leaned heavily on screen passes in Week 7. And after the team’s wild 33-32 victory, Payton defended his play call. The coach noticed that some of the many passes were not blocked enough. But “we ended up making some big, big plays,” Payton said, per The Denver Post’s Lucas Evans.

The Broncos trailed 19-0 entering the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game. New York’s 29th-ranked defense held Denver scoreless for the first 45 minutes of the game. then, Bo Nick and society made an incredible comeback, with the help of young people The Giants team that fell apart.

The other four teams, the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets and Giants are a combined 6-22 on the season. The Broncos are 1-2 against teams with a winning record.

Denver will host its third straight game on Sunday when the Dallas Cowboys visit in Week 8. Expect plenty of screen passes with Payton’s play calling against the Cowboys’ worst defense in the league.
