In New York, the bench is coming out of the shadows under Mike Brown

Mike Brown with the KnicksUnder the rule of the rigorous Tom Thibodeauthe Knicks bench was among the most discreet in the League: little used, so logically not very productive. The coach’s trademark, true to his short rotations and almost exclusive trust in his holders.

Radical change this season. From the opening game, Mike Brown dynamized New York’s habits by opening its bench wide: eleven players were used, including ten with at least ten minutes to play.

“I like to play with a lot of guys”confirmed Mike Brown on Yahoo!. “I don’t know if I will use eleven players in every game, but I like to play them as much as possible. We want everyone to be ready when called upon.”

In this case, Gershon Yabusele (who would finish without a single point in 12 minutes) was up first to replace Karl-Anthony Towns, guilty of quick fouls. But all of Gotham’s other knives were sharp, like Myles McBride, who scored 15 points in 26 minutes.

“We have different profiles in defense, in attack, it’s great!”

“We have a dense workforce” appreciated OG Anunobius in The Athletic. “All the guys who came into the game had an impact, it showed in this match.”

Built to win the Eastern Conference, where the competition has been greatly weakened by injuries, the Knicks have done a job behind the scenes with their GM Gerson Rosas and president Leon Rose, who managed to attract Gershon Yabusele this summer, as well as luxury sixth man Jordan Clarkson.

“I like our bench more than a lot of others in the League. All the guys on the team are talented and can do a lot of things, including dribble to the rim and make the right reads.”assume Mikal Bridges. “Everyone brings their freshness. Different profiles in defense, in attack, it’s great! Even guys who haven’t played yet, I know they can play and influence the course of the match.”

The remaining two players on the bench? Two Frenchmen: rookie Mohamed Diawara and sophomore Pakoma Dadier.
