Poker Pro Names Chauncey Billups In Alleged Game Cheating In Replay
Recently, ESPN reported that the FBI has arrested dozens of individuals as part of a gambling investigation, one related to alleged fixed bets in a series of poker games linked to New York mob families and another related to illegal betting related to NBA games. Among those arrested were Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billupsin connection with the games of poker, and Miami guard Terry Rozierin connection with the alleged gambling.
Recently, a video was unearthed from just over two years ago in which professional poker player Matt Berkey talks about the time he heard about a game that appeared to be set up and orchestrated by Billups.
“Crowing is bad, okay? There’s a lot of talk about it,” Berkey said via his account on X, formerly Twitter. “There was one that came up, this must have been five years ago, 2019, I think, four years ago. Where this game was, it started in LA, then it came to Vegas for a few days. And it was all built around Chauncey Billups.”
Berkey then talked about how he first heard about the game.
“I heard about the game and the person who told me about it was like, look, I know the players of the game. I’m telling you 100% this game is on the rise. And I was like, ‘well, I know a lot of people involved and I’m telling you 100% it’s not on the rise,'” he said.
Tough news for the Blazers

The news about Billups comes just one day after the Portland Trail Blazers kicked off their highly anticipated 2025-26 season with a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night.
The Blazers were expected to take a step forward this year, and while they still can, they’ll have to do it without Billups, at least for now.
The Blazers will take the floor next on Friday at home against the Golden State Warriors.
