Luka Doncic is questionable for the Kings game due to a finger injury

The Los Angeles Lakers they started the 2025-26 season 1-1, dropping their first night game against the Golden State Warriors, while coming back to win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. During those two games, Lakers star Luka Doncic was in tearsbut appeared on the team’s injury report heading into their matchup with the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.

Luka Doncic is officially listed as suspicious on the Lakers’ injury report for their game against the Kings. He was reported to be suffering from a sprained left finger. The finger injury is something new, and Doncic didn’t mention it at all after the Lakers’ win against the Wolves. Doncic appeared to suffer an apparent groin injury during the Warriors loss, but avoided it and was able to play against the Timberwolves.

With back-to-back 40-point games to start the season, Doncic set a Lakers franchise record becoming the first player in team history to open a season with two consecutive 40-point games. Against the Warriors, Doncic finished with 43 points, and then a few days later against the Wolves, he dropped 49 points.

After the Wolves’ win, Lakers head coach JJ Reddick joked that Doncic couldn’t capitalize on Redick’s attempts to push him over the 50-point line.

“There was some discussion about whether or not … I’m trying to get the guy 50. I’ve already given him three chances,” Redick joked. “I gave him a fourth chance, he got fouled…he was great…I said I gave you three chances, you missed a layup, you gave him a wide open three…just shoot.”

But it wasn’t just Doncic’s point that was huge for the Lakers. He also opened the season with back-to-back double-doubles. He grabbed 12 rebounds against the Warriors and had 11 against the Wolves. He also had a combined 17 assists in the first two games, only finishing with a triple-double in both.
