Zach LaVine’s status update for the Lakers matchup

The Sacramento Kings are coming off a thrilling 105-104 win against the Utah Jazz on Friday thanks to Game winner by Domantas Sabonis after made his season debut. The Kings look to carry that momentum into Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. But the Kings may be a little short. Zach LaVine appeared on the Kings’ injury report for their game against the Lakers with a major status update.

Zach LaVine is officially listed as suspicious due to illness, according to the NBA’s official injury report, putting his status against the Lakers in doubt, and a final update likely won’t come until shortly before the game. The Lakers might be at a disadvantage themselves as Luka Doncic is listed as questionable on the injury report with a finger injury.

Doncic has had a great start to the season for the Lakers, and LaVine is also for the Kings. During King’s season opener against the Phoenix Suns, LaVine finished with 30 points in 35 minutes on 13-of-24 (54.2 percent) shooting from the field. He followed that up by dropping 31 points in 37 minutes against the Jazz, shooting 10-of-18 (55.6 percent) from the field, 4-of-9 (44.4 percent) from the three-point line and 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

LaVine is coming off his first training camp and preseason with the Kings after being acquired in a multiple trade involving the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs during last year’s deadline.

After the trade, LaVine appeared in 32 games for the Kings with just over 36 minutes per game. He averaged 22.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 51.1 percent from the field, 44.6 percent from the three-point line and 87.4 percent from the free throw line.

LaVine enters his 12th NBA season after being selected 13th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2014 NBA Draft.
