Max Christie remains humble amid early season individual success
On Monday night, The Dallas Mavericks are down at 1-3 in the young 2025 NBA season with a home loss to the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a tough game from number one overall draft pick Cooper Flaggwho scored just two points against last year’s number one defense in the NBA.
However, one player who played a good game was Max Christiewho scored 14 points and started the season strong.
Recently, Christie became 100% real to his way of thinking amid a hot start in his first full year in Dallas.
“Anytime you can see the fruits of your labor, it’s definitely a good feeling. But I think I’m always focused on the team more than myself, so it feels great to shoot well … but I think it’s important, we’re 1-3, so we have to address that as the main concern, the main focus,” Christie said, per Joey Mistretta on Twitter.
Meanwhile, head coach Jason Kidd had high praise for Christie.
“He’s playing great … He shoots the three well. He competes defensively. I thought he had some great looks early (against the Thunder last night), knocked some down and then knocked us down later. But he’s playing well, at a high level for us early in the season.”
An intriguing young piece

Max Christie was the “other” player the Dallas Mavericks brought back along with Anthony Davis in the disastrous Luka Doncic trade. While everyone on planet Earth not named Nico Harrison would quickly reverse that trade (not including Lakers fans) if they could, Mavericks fans are still more than happy to see Christie out to start the year.
Still, as Christie noted, the team is struggling despite a shocking five-game home streak to open the season.
That streak will continue on Wednesday when they host the Indiana Pacers at 8:30 PM ET before finally hitting the road later this week.
