Pablo Torre slams LA fans for chanting ‘FBI’ against Blazers

on Sunday, Los Angeles Clippers improved to 2-1 in the young 2025 NBA season with the home win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Clippers appear to have fully recovered from their baffling season-opening loss to the Utah Jazz in a way that has led some fans to wonder if their impressive offseason is a sign of things to come after all.

At one point in a Blazers game, Clippers fans chanted “FBI” in Portland, referring to the recent arrest of their head coach Chauncey Billups on charges related to illegal poker games.

As he is known to do, sports reporter Pablo Torre found a way to insert himself into the mix, pointing out the alleged hypocrisy of Los Angeles with this chant given the controversy currently surround their organization.

“Chanting ‘FBI’ on another team inside an arena whose first Founding Partner was infamously involved in the FBI’s own investigation is………brave,” Torre reported.

Torre accused the Clippers of circumventing the NBA’s salary cap by having stars Kawhi Leonard sign a no-show contract with the now-bankrupt Aspiration, and the team is currently under investigation by the league, with a decision not expected anytime soon.

Leonard controversy aside, the Los Angeles Clippers hope to put together another strong year in 2025-26 and make a deep playoff run, especially considering it’s unclear how many good years Leonard and fellow forward James Harden have left.

The Clippers assembled arguably the deepest team of the Leonard era, with great players like John Collins, Kris Dunn, and a borderline All-Star center in Ivica Zubac at center.

This, combined with a championship-winning head coach in Ty Lue, could be enough to propel the Clippers into Western Conference contender status, though Leonard’s health will always be a major question mark.

Either way, the Clippers will take the floor next on Tuesday night when they host the Golden State Warriors. That game is scheduled to begin at 11:00 PM ET from the Gulf.
