Deandre Ayton laughs at wild Blazers tactics after second loss

Los Angeles The Lakers dropped Game 2 2025-26 season to the Portland Trail Blazers, but a big man Deandre Ayton he doesn’t let the chatter from his former team get under his skin.
After the game, Ayton revealed that the Blazers had been trying to trash talk him all night, led by forward Danny Avdia, who made sure every shot taken came with a few choice words. “They were definitely talking trash to me the whole time,” Ayton said after the game, laughing. “Danny Avdia, every shot he made, he just rubbed it in.”

The Blazers’ verbal strategy seemed intended to throw Ayton out of his groove, especially after his strong start to the season. But the Lakers big man accepted it, laughing off the “bullshit” and insisting he wouldn’t take the bait.
Aiton finished with 16 points and eight reboundsshowing solid production despite the Blazers’ attempts to frustrate him. The Lakers, however, could not overcome the result imbalance that plagued them at the beginning of the season.
Austin Reeves once again carried the brunt of the offensescoring 41 points after a game-high 51 in Sunday’s 127-120 win over the Kings. Rui Hachimura added 16 and Jarred Vanderbilt had 14, but Los Angeles struggled to find a consistent rhythm outside of Reaves.
The loss dropped the Lakers to 2-2 on the year, highlighting both depth issues and the need for secondary scoring options as stars like LeBron James and Luka Doncic continue to handle early-season workloads.
Still, Ayton’s composed response after the loss signals the growth of a player who has often been criticized for his emotional inconsistency. “It’s all love,” Aiton said with a chuckle. “They can say whatever they want; they’re a tough team.”
The Lakers will indeed get another shot at Portland later in the season, and if Ayton’s comments are any indication, he’ll be ready for a rematch, both on the court and in the verbal exchange.
