Newbie from LA gets key info on travel injuries

The Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of a quick two-game road trip, one that began with a thrilling 116-115 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves after Austin Reeves knocks down the game winner. The road trip ends against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, and the Lakers could get more reinforcements soon. Lakers rookie Adou Tierro got a new update due to a knee injury that delayed his NBA debut.
Adou Thiero was recently cleared for live contact on the court as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury, and has been assigned to the Lakers’ G League affiliate in the South Bay, according to Brad Turner of the LA Times . The next step for Tierro to make his NBA debut is being able to participate in five-on-five.
Tiero was unable to participate in the NBA Summer League as he was sidelined due to the aforementioned knee injury. He originally suffered the injury while in college at Arkansas, and was forced to miss the final eight games of his NCAA career.
36 overall in the 2025 NBA Draft The Lakers traded up to select Tierro in the day trade of the draft. Tierro began his college career at Kentucky where he played two seasons from 2022-2024. He then entered the transfer portal and followed John Calipari when he became the head coach at Arkansas. Tiero then declared for the NBA draft after his junior year.
While in college, he developed into a strong defensive player capable of guarding multiple positions. Thiero believes he can bring the same defensive intensity in the NBA. Once cleared to play, Thiero will likely spend a good portion of his rookie season in the G League on the national team with South Bay. It’s obvious that he’s more of a long-term thing for the Lakers, not an immediate one.
