Josh Minot loves dirty work and that makes the Celtics happy

Josh MinottFor his first two terms in his career, Josh Minott he did not experience defeat. After integrating Joe Mazzula’s starting five during the win against the Pelicans, the winger started again against Cleveland: a meeting that marked first win at home Celtics this season.

And Josh Minot signed a valuable double-double: 11 points and 15 rebounds, his new personal record. A key contributor on a night in which Boston largely dominated rebounding (53-42) against a strong frontcourt, led by Jarrett Allen etc Evan Mobley.

“He did a good job”Congratulations to Joe Mazzulla after the meeting. “He understood what the expectations were and how he had to play. I like his ability to make an impact on both sides of the court and his versatility, but he continues to elude certain actions. He has to get better in this area so he will continue to work on it.”

Aware that he will not have the same offensive volume as Jailen Brown or Derrick WhiteJosh Minot finds his place differently. In order to win, the young wing focuses primarily on defense and rebounds.

“Not everyone can be a star”

“We were all stars in high school, and most of us were still stars in college” recalls Josh Minot. “But when you get here (to the NBA), you have to understand that not everybody can be a star. I don’t have a problem with that. I want to help everybody be good. I’m going to get rebounds, defend and try to make sure the opposing players aren’t as good.”

Enough to quickly integrate the top five of the Celtics, instead of Sam Hauser or Hugo Gonzalez, because he provides more physical guarantees, and therefore more rebound, than his two teammates.

“I told him to keep being consistent and keep getting rebounds” Jaylen Brown’s explica. “All these things are important to the team so I’ll keep telling him. It was a great game for him tonight, he did exactly what we needed him to do. He was aggressive on offense and hit his open shots so hopefully that will help him gain confidence because we’re going to need that.”
