Myles Turner is 100% still salty about contract negotiations with the Pacers

The NBA season is just over a week old, and Myles Turner made his debut with the Milwaukee Bucks. He appreciates his first games with his new team. But that didn’t change Turner’s stance on his contract negotiations with the Indiana Pacers and the circumstances that led him to the Bucks. Turner spoke on the Thanalisis podcast about the being salty about how it all went down.

“Pascal was in a contract year. TJ McConnell was in a contract year. Aaron Nesmith was in a contract year. I could go down the list, but go through it — and we’ve had great success,” Turner said on the podcast.

Turner was already one of the the best pacers in franchise history, and many expected him to stay with the team. He also admitted that everyone around the organization kept telling him that the team would take care of everything as the Pacers kept winning. Circumstances and expectations rose when the Pacers went to the NBA Finals.

“All everyone said to me was ‘Miles, just keep your head down. Keep your head down and work. You’ll be taken care of.’ “Then I hear the rumor, ‘Indiana is going into luxury tax for the first time ever,'” Turner continued.

Turner also recalled what happened next Tyrese Haliburton is injured that will keep him out for the entire 2025-26 NBA season. He believed the front office had changed its mind about him competing and therefore giving him the contract extension he wanted. Contract negotiations stalled, and Turner and the Pacers were much further apart than they had believed. after all, Turner would sign with the Bucks, rival Pacers, who begins a new era and has the opportunity to play with his former team four times a year.

Turner will return to Indiana on Monday, Nov. 3, as the Bucks take on the winless Pacers. So far, he’s gotten off to a slower-than-expected start, averaging 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 31.6 percent from the field. But playing against his former team could inspire Turner to take his game to the next level.
