Kevin Garnett Thinks Austin Reeves Is Setting Up ‘Audition’ Tape

Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves has enjoyed a great start to the new season. The 27-year-old has played the first five games of the campaign helped him earn his place in NBA history and they especially caught the attention of an NBA legend.
Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett recently claimed that Reaves might want to put on a show to get the attention of the rest of the league.
“Siddddd… Well, Austin Reeves might be auditioning for the #1 spot somewhere in his head,” Garnett tweeted. Check out the history without Luke and Bronn. Let’s see…”
Reaves turned down an $89.2 million contract extension last offseason and could opt out of his current contract at the end of the year. It’s possible another team could try to build a trade for Reaves or sign him down the road.
Through the first five games of the season, Reaves averaged 34.2 points and 10 assists while shooting roughly 53 percent from the field and about 39 percent from distance.
Those ratings are likely to drop once LeBron James and Luka Doncic return from their injuries, but opposing clubs could see Reaves’ latest results as a sign that he’s ready to lead their team.
Before the start of the season, Reaves admitted there is a chance he could be traded, considering he didn’t sign an extension with the Lakers.
“I thought there was a good chance in, like, a week after I turned down the extension, there was a possibility that I could be traded,” Reaves told The Athletic. “I mean, there’s still a possibility.”
Reaves may not be openly looking for a new home, but as Garnett partially suggested, he could be playing with a desire to show his full potential.
