Anthony Davis will miss at least 2 games with a calf strain

Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis will miss the team’s next two games with an injury, the team announced Friday. Davis suffered an injury — a low-grade calf strain — during the first quarter of Wednesday’s 107-105 win over the Indiana Pacers. The Mavs will play the Detroit Pistons on Saturday in Mexico City before traveling to Houston to play the Rockets on Monday night. AD will then be re-evaluated ahead of Wednesday’s home game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Davis was originally listed as a probable na NBA injury perform before being upgraded to available for Wednesday’s competition. He ended up getting injured in the first quarter and sat out the rest of the game.
Both Jason Kidd and Anthony Davies called this question “everyday”.
“It’s going to be day by day,” Davis he saidvia ESPN. “But I feel better, that’s for sure.”
The Mavericks star currently has no official timeline for his return. As mentioned, he will be re-evaluated after the team’s current two-game road trip. If there’s no downtime, he could be back sooner rather than later. That said, the Mavericks will proceed with extreme caution given Davis’ injury history.
Through five games played — although the fifth saw him on the floor for only a few minutes — Davis averaged 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per outing. The Mavericks have endured an inconsistent start to the year, as they enter Saturday’s game with a 2-3 record overall.
We will continue to monitor and provide updates on Anthony Davis’ injury status as they become available.
