The financial success was the culmination of months of planning, which began when Jackson first mentioned his intention to host the event. The game was originally scheduled for November 1, but was moved to a Thursday night match.

As the designated home team, Delaware State had the discretion to move the game to an NFL stadium, a location change that was officially confirmed in July.

Jackson’s Hornets ended up defeating the Spartans 27-20. The win gave the Hornets key momentum as they continue their quest to secure a berth in the Celebration Bowl and win the MEAC Championship.
