Quenton Jackson in “attack mode” for the Pacers

Quenton JacksonIn this complicated start to an injury-plagued season for the Pacers, some have stepped out of their boxes and that was the case Quenton Jackson during this duel against the Warriors. With the deprived external sector due to absence Tyrese Halliburton, Andrew Nembhardt, TJ McConnell or even Benedict Maturin, a native of Los Angeles was inserted into the starting five and he responded!

In 31 minutes of play, he scored 25 points and recorded ten assists to help the Pacers get their first win season.

“The coach and my teammates let me be myself and give me confidence” Quenton Jackson explains, after the meeting. “They were overtaking Pascal (Siakam) so I tried to give a different face to the team with a different defensive player. Tonight it was me, but tomorrow it could be someone else.”

The 27-year-old leader decided especially in the end of the match. First, he hit a 3-point shot that gave Indiana the lead with just over a minute left. Then, five seconds from time, he sent a shot from mid-range Draymond Green which gives the Pacers a five-point advantage and seals the fate of the match.

Learn from others

“He is an offensive player, so he has to be on the attack” reminds his coach Rick Carlisle. “He’s a hybrid on the outside who can play as a 1 or 2, but the most important thing is who he is deep down, which is a striker.

Since his arrival in Indiana in 2024, his appearances have been few and far between as he has collected just 31 games in two years with the Pacers, including seven starts, all last season. However, on this Indiana team that has many talented leaders including Tyrese Haliburton, Quenton Jackson was able to learn from them, which may explain his success.

In addition to his 25 points and 10 assists, he did not lose a single ball. In Pacers history, only two players have achieved this before him, namely Tyrese Halliburton and Malcolm Brogdon.

“In recent years, I could see everything that happens here” Quenton Jackson remembers. “I’m someone who learns by watching. So I’ve been able to learn from all these guys, but again, it’s all about confidence. They all trust me and let me play my game.”
