The Kid discovers the reasons behind Flag’s point guard experiment

The Dallas Mavericks they have had a mixed start to the NBA season despite the wealth of talent on their roster. With Kyrie Irving, long-term and less to worry about for the likes of Anthony Davis, Dante Exum and Derrick Lively II, Flagg has been pushed to the PG position for now.

In a recent press conference, the head coach Jason Kidd explained the move in detail.

“There’s a couple of things behind him in the (PG) game. One is our health. … The other part of handling the ball is being able to handle the pressure when April comes and play for something bigger,” he said, in a video posted by Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News.

There’s no doubt that Flegg has excelled so far in his basketball career as a two-way forward. His athleticism, combined with an elite basketball IQ and scoring ability, make him difficult to stop, even for the most organized defense.

However, it also makes him a potential makeshift PG for a roster struggling for an offensive tone setter. The Mavericks have D’Angelo Russell and Max Christie to fill in.

However, Jason Kidd seems intent on making Flagg “uncomfortable,” which he is I alluded to it during the preseasonaccording to Yahoo Sports. Further, while Flagg’s contributions have been significant, the Mavs have also had a rough start to the season as far as shooting is concerned.

The Mavs currently rank in the bottom five in the NBA in three-point attempts, scoring and overall accuracy, and have an offensive rating of just 104.5, which is 30th out of 30 teams. That, in addition to ongoing injury problems, means the team has also struggled for consistency outside of Cooper Flagg.

The former Duke star is currently averaging 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and three assists per game, and there is little doubt that he himself will be aware that there is plenty of room for improvement.
