Cooper Flagg wasn’t going to ‘lie’ about the Mexico City game

The Dallas Mavericks they didn’t have the start some would have imagined given the talent in their ranks. Cooper Flagg he had a mixed start to life in the NBA after pushed to the PG position by head coach Jason Kidd.

Now, a change in scenery from the Detroit Pistons game, which was played at an elevation that was 2,000 feet higher than Denver, he brought the answer from the miracle of the Mavericks.

“I’m not going to lie. It was tough. I was really breathing hard most of the game. At the end of the day, it was something everyone was dealing with,” Flegg, who finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists, told Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News.

While Flagg went just 3-14 from the field, he himself isn’t worried about the way he’s started in the league.

“It’s a tough league. It’s a transition. I haven’t made as many shots or been as efficient as I’d like, but I’ll continue to believe in the work. I don’t think it’s anything they should be worried about. I’m not worried about anything,” the 18-year-old said.

Flagg being pushed to the PG position in the absence of Kyrie Irving certainly didn’t help. However, its effectiveness has also been an issue so far.

In six games so far, Flag averaged 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and three assists in more than 32 minutes per appearance. He’s making just one of his 3.5 three-point attempts per game and is shooting 41.3% overall.

While most still expect him to improve and become a Rookie of the Year favorite, the former Duke star seems out of step with the NBA, something fans hope will improve quickly. However, Kidd’s team also suffered multiple minor injuries recently, including calf strain for Anthony Daviswhich made their previous offense even more difficult.
