Victor Wembanyama stifled, Spurs collapse in Phoenix

Undefeated before their trip to Arizona, c Spurs Victor Vembanyama was welcomed by the Suns festival away at the start of the meeting. Devin Booker, Ryan Dunn (17 points, 5 rebounds), Grayson Allen (17 points), Royce O’Neal (11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Colin Gillespie (15 points, 4 assists) make at least one 3-pointer in the first quarter, and Phoenix leads (3331-2).
While Vembanjama remains silent, Spurs take over. The Devin Booker – Nick Richards duo adds another layer and the gap increases to +16 (58-42). While we had to wait for the last minute of the first half to see the first points WembyThe Suns make 5/5 on 3-pointers (11/15 at halftime) and return to the locker room at +18 (70-52)!
Devin Booker in Teacher
The trend is confirmed in the third quarter as well. The Phoenix defense is as steadfast as ever, and Devin Booker, already with a double-double, roams through the Texas defense and brings his team to +26 (89-63). Like Vembanjama (9 points on 4/14 shooting, 6 turnovers), the entire Spurs team is frustrated. Dylan Harper (12 points in 11 minutes of play), who was good in the first half, came out injured, and Phoenix took more than 30 points ahead (97-66).
San Antonio, however, is trying one last fight. Stephon Castle (26 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) and Keldon Johnson (19 points) sparked a 12-0 run to get back to -14 (111-97), but Devin Booker responded like a boss. On the next possession, Stephon Castle drew three consecutive fouls to break the rhythm and revive Phoenix to an easy victory.
WHAT TO REMEMBER
– The Suns are aggressive on Wembey. For the first time this season, the defense beat Victor Wembanyama. With Royce O’Neill at his back and systematic double shots, followed by good defensive rotations, the Suns limited the Frenchman to five attempts in the first 24 minutes, for just one success, and no free throws. Wemy was a little better in the second half, finishing the match with 9 points on 4/14 shooting, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks and 6 turnovers.
– Devin Booker and Les Pistoleros. The Suns star had fun last night. As Stephon Castle started hostilities with appropriate silliness, Booker responded with a game. He was devilishly efficient (10/15 shooting) to score his 28 points and used the attention of the San Antonio defense to let his teammates shine as well. He finished with 13 assists, most of which were 3-pointers. Indeed, the Suns finished 19/33 from distance, with five players making at least three shots from distance.
– There is only one undefeated team left this season. With losses to San Antonio at Phoenix and Chicago at New York, the Thunder, who beat the Pelicans by more than 30 points last night, are the last undefeated team this season.
