Austin Reeves roasts ‘idiot’ Luka Doncic after the win over Heat

Austin Reaves took some playful shots at Luka Doncic after Los Angeles The Lakers beat the Miami Heat 130-120 on Sunday night.

Reaves and Doncic played excellently as a dynamic duo, while LeBron James remained on the sidelines. They combined for 55 points, 21 assists and 15 rebounds in 38 minutes of play each.

Reaves reflected on his chemistry with Doncic after the game, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. He noted how his fellow star is more comfortable in his surroundings, since he was traded from the Dallas Mavericks in a shocking blockbuster trade last season.

“He’s an idiot. I don’t know what he was doing yesterday, but today he was in high spirits, joking, having a good time. I guess he’s a big football fan because he sat there and watched the Chiefs-Bills game for a long time. He’s a Cowboys fan, I know, but it’s human nature to think that last year was like that. No. I’m sure he was in shock and had to move his family, so I think he’s just having fun, but yeah, he’s acting like a kid at some point.

It’s clear that Austin Reaves is having fun building his relationship with Luka Doncic as Lakers teammates. Their tight win over the Heat is another example of that.

Los Angeles dominated the first half, leading 77-63 at halftime. Although Miami cut the deficit to two in the fourth quarter, the Lakers made big plays down the stretch to secure the win at home.

Shooting and steals made the difference in this match. The Lakers won in both categories, making 15 3-pointers and 14 steals. It wasn’t the same for the Heat, only making nine 3-pointers while making seven steals.

Six players scored in double figures for Los Angeles, including Doncic and Reaves. The former finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals. He shot 9-of-22 from the field, including 1-of-11 from beyond the arc and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Next is Reaves with 26 points and 11 assists, Jake Laravia with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Rui Hachimura and Jackson Hayes scored 15 points each. Meanwhile, Marcus Smart contributed 11 points, four assists, three rebounds, two steals and a block.
