Emmanuel Acho believes the Jalan Phillips trade is the addition that wins the Super Bowl

When the news was published that The Philadelphia Eagles traded a 2026 third-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, no one was more excited about the news than former linebacker-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho.

Taking to social media while on the plane to quickly give insight into the deal, Acho revealed why the move had a Super Bowl in particular, calling out his former CEO for another A+ acquisition.

“Okay, I have to shut up because I’m on a plane, but shout out to this Eagles team for a huge acquisition. Number one, it’s a necessary acquisition, and number two, it’s a quality acquisition. Here’s why it’s important. You could move first-round pick Jahad Campbell to a fullback, who’s a better outside linebacker,” Acho explained.

“Number two, Jalen Phillips, rookie year, eight and a half sacks. Second year, seven sacks. Third year, six and a half sacks. The guy has elite talent when he’s healthy. Remember, third year, Achilles injury. Fourth year, knee injury. But now that he’s getting older, a young player can only maintain quality, what Ea6 can only do when he’s 6. old, and the Dolphins picked up his five-year option.

“At worst, it’s a rental, but it’s a Super Bowl-caliber rental. And if he plays well, you extend them for years to come. A must-have acquisition, a huge acquisition, and I’d go as far as to say a Super Bowl-winning acquisition. “Howie Roseman does it again.

On paper, there’s a lot to like about Phillips. He has experience playing for Vic Fangio in Miamihas an 18.3 passing win rate 2025, and is one of the best players in the NFL, ranking seventh in run-stopping percentage at 31 percent on 118 plays before Week 9. If he can throw it all in Philly, which Acho clearly thinks he can, then who knows, maybe the Eagles will have that missing piece on their defense and be able to sustain his rapid success just like Jay Ajayi — another Miami acquisition — back in 2017 — is en route to his first Super Bowl ever.
