Isaiah Joe caught fire again to cool the Clippers
Against the Clippers, the Thunder struggled to get into their game, quickly falling behind by more than ten points. But getting into the gameIsaiah Joe completely revived the current champions.
In the first quarter, he attempted four 3-pointers and converted two, closing the gap and allowing his team to stay in touch despite a fiery start by James Harden, who scored twelve points in two minutes.
And if he can keep Oklahoma City in the game in the first half, he’ll definitely knock the Clippers out in the second. The Thunder ended the third quarter with a 13-6 lead, with eight points coming from behind. Then, in the middle of the fourth quarter, he sent the last long shot to increase the lead to +15 and extinguish the last hopes from Los Angeles on a date.
“I stay ready all the time”says Isaiah Joe after the meeting. “Guys are always able to find me and I try my best to make those shots.
A huge influence on the long run success of the Thunder
Coming off the bench, Isaiah Joe finished with 22 points on 7/12 shooting, including 6/10 from 3-point range, confirming his great form since returning from injury. In just three games this season, he’s averaging 18 points on 52% shooting and 48% from distance, with nearly ten attempts from behind the arc per game. Career highlights.
After the game, his coach Mark Daigneault, however, recalled that Isaiah Joe was not just a simple 3-point shooter: “Besides his shooting, there’s all the little ball movements, reading transitions, screens. Everything we’re teaching Chris Youngblad and Brooks Barnhiser, he’s already doing at a very high level.”
Analysis which was later developed by Isaiah Joe : “These are the actions that win matches and go beyond the simplicity of the shooter. It’s about finding the best shot, whether it’s me or someone else. At the end of the day, we’re just looking for the best shot.”
Enough to allow Oklahoma City to cure its 3-point woes. Through the first five games, the Thunder had the league’s 29th outdoor skill, shooting just 29%, trailing only the Pelicans. Since the return of Isaiah Joe, the team has moved up to 8th place, with a success rate of a whopping 40%!
