Pete Carroll sounds on Daniel Carlson after another costly miss

The Las Vegas Raiders‘ latest loss against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football wasn’t just another loss. It was a statement for the head coach Pete Carroll who made his frustration clear after the final whistle.
After Daniel Carlson’s 48-yard miss that would have tied the game late in the fourth quarter, Carroll lost the upbeat tone he’s known for and issued a rough challenge to his veteran kicker. Silver & Black Sports Network’s Jesse Merrick took to his X, (formerly known as Twitter) to share the coaches raw commentary after the game which quickly hit the headlines.
“He’s got to shoot better. It’s killing him, too. He wants to make every one of them. He’s got to shoot better for us.”
The miss was Karlsson’s fourth of the season and second in just three games. For a player who once belonged in the most elite leagues, the regression was hard to ignore. His conversion rate of 75 percent is among the lowest in the league and each of his last three losses has been a loss.
Carroll’s frustration reflected mounting pressure on a Raiders team that has missed several winning games this season, many decided by missed field goals and critical special teams mistakes.
First year head coach of the Raiderswho preached responsibility since arriving in Las Vegas, it was about more than one punch. It was about setting the tone – something he emphasized throughout his NFL career. The Raiders are now 2-7, and special teams mistakes have cost them games more than once.
With a week to go before they face the Kansas City Chiefs, the Raiders are expected to evaluate their hitting situation. Whether Carlson will keep his job or face competition remains to be seen, but Carroll’s message was unmistakable. Missed opportunities will no longer be tolerated.
