Skilled from long range, the Magic bend the Celtics in the end

The first minutes are complicated for Magic, who struggle to score. Then the cork breaks and the waves follow one another. The Celtics are overpowered and concede 28-7.

Logically, Orlando won the first quarter (38-25). With Jaylen Brown and Derrick White surrounded by replacements, Boston remains in touch. Joe Mazzula’s troops tried harder, but the Magic responded with an 8-0 run to maintain the lead at the break (59-51).

The Celtics pressed again after returning from the locker room. Even better, they equalize with 13-3. It must be said that Jaylen Brown has taken matters into his own hands. The 2024 Finals MVP scored 16 points in this third quarter and hurt with his penetration. However, Orlando remains ahead (84-80) and everything will be decided in the end.

Anferni Simmons imitated his teammate by scoring game-winning baskets at the start of the final quarter, but because of turnovers, it didn’t last for him and his teammates. The Magic find good shots from long range and accumulate free throws. Better negotiating this last corner, he won 123-110.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

– Jaylen Brown’s third quarter. Simple: the Celtics winger scored half of his points in the third quarter alone. Without forcing, but insisting on the inside, he kept his team together during these minutes and finished this game with 32 points on 15/28 shooting and 9 rebounds.

– Magic’s 3-dot address. Orlando’s shooters found a rhythm from the start and made the difference at the end of the match. Danger came from everywhere, especially with 4/6 Jalen Suggs, 3/5 Tristan da Silva or even Anthony Black, Desmond Bain and Franz Wagner all scoring two game-winning shots. This 17/36 in practice (47%) made it possible to compensate for the discreet match of Paolo Banchero (15 points), not in a great evening.
