The disaster continues for the Mavericks
Silence, flowing. Nothing is going well anymore. It’s a crisis. We can take out all the sanctified expressions from the side dallas to discuss the situation. That can be summed up in two facts: The loss against Memphis is their fourth in a row, and the franchise is in last place in the Western Conference…
“It turns out that we have been in trouble since the beginning of the season”, he can only observe Jason Kidd. “Sometimes it happens in the middle or at the end of the season. We have to keep fighting.”
However, the Grizzlies haven’t been in great shape since the start of the season either, with very average results already tension with Ja Morant. But obviously we’re less sick in Memphis than the Mavericks.
“Honestly, we didn’t have energy. We didn’t have energy for three quarters and we have to do better. I say that every time, but it’s true.”, laments Max Christie, he and his teammates trailed by 22 points after 36 minutes. “We said to ourselves at halftime: what should we do? No one is going to come to save us. It’s up to us to do it, not even the coaches. They give us answers and we don’t follow instructions at all.”
Another injured…
For his part, Jason Kidd didn’t want to put the blame on his players. “Everyone is to blame. The coaches have to do better. You can always say the players have to be better, but we all have to be.”
But is that really possible when you concede 74 points in the first period or shoot just 25% on 3-pointers? “We’re bad at shooting. We can’t shoot regularly.”laments the Dallas coach.
To add even more points, Daniel Gafford re-injured his right ankle. “I’m holding the house while the other interiors are coming back”he confides when he played just 12 minutes against the Grizzlies.
With Anthony Davis and Derek Lively II effectively stuck in the infirmary, losing Axis would be a disaster. “It’s a bit of deja vu, we were in the same situation last year”he recalls ahead of the avalanche of injuries at Texas last season. Which doesn’t bode well, considering Dallas barely won 39 games in 2024/25 without making the playoffs.
