Watch Joel Embiid’s craziest career assist
On Saturday night, The Philadelphia 76ers continued their strong start to the season with a comfortable home win over the Toronto Raptors in an Atlantic Division game. It was one of the stronger games of the season for the big man Joel Embiidwho scored 29 points, four assists and six rebounds in the victory.
One of those assists was probably the most impressive of the season so far by any player, with Embiid launch pass over the head and into the pocket for a shot by young winger Justin Edwards, who immediately knocked down a three-pointer from the opposite corner.

It was another reminder of what a uniquely gifted offensive player Embiid is, as he improved his game and ability to dissect defenses significantly during his future Hall of Fame career.
If Embiid continues to see the floor (and stay on it) throughout the season, the 76ers could be a much more dangerous opponent for teams to face this year.
Solid start for the 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers are currently 6-3 at this early stage of the 2025-26 NBA season. Arguably the biggest story of the season for Philly has been the play of their backfield, with Tyrese Maxey getting a red-hot start to the campaign and VJ Edgecombe also raising eyebrows so early in his rookie year.
Embiid has rebounded and started playing better than he looked during the first few games of the season, and Philadelphia has built a strong offensive attack as a result, surrounded by capable wings like Kelly Oubre, and eventually Paul George when he returns to the lineup.
At this point, the 76ers’ defense has been something of a question mark, especially since Embiid is no longer nearly as mobile as he was in the prime of his career. Still, if Philadelphia can continue to win at this rate, it shouldn’t be too difficult to secure a playoff spot in the rotten Eastern Conference.
