A Timberwolves insider gives the inside scoop on the Ja Morant trade zulu

The situation in between Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies got worse sharply in recent weeks. Now, one of the Minnesota TimberwolvesInsiders confirm the Timberwolves have joined the list of teams targeting the struggling star.
Minnesota has been quietly testing the waters on a potential Morant acquisition as they search for answers at point guard. wolves interest has been detected on SiriusXM NBA Radio The Jak Show by Jon Krawczynski of the Athletics.
“There’s no real point guard on the roster. They’re looking to Anthony Edwards to do that. They’re looking to Julius Randle to do a lot of things for point guards,” Krawczynski said. “They certainly signed up with Memphis on I and were just trying to test the waters a little bit. I don’t feel like there’s anything really close, but I think as we get into the end of December and the Wolves are still kind of, again, treading water, and that point guard position still hasn’t solidified, and they couldn’t find ways to explore at least on Yanta.
The Timberwolves are currently 6-4 after a solid start to the season, but the point guard remains a glaring weakness. Mike Conley is 38 years old and in the twilight of his career, while Rob Dillingham is still adjusting to the NBA level.
Morant’s availability stems from his recent feud with Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisal. Morant was recently suspended for disruptive behavior team after a fierce conflict with the coaching staff.
Memphis is off to a 4-7 start, and several teams are reportedly circling. The Houston Rockets emerged as the primary suitor after Fred VanVleet’s season-ending ACL tear left them desperate for a point guard.
Minnesota is exploring roster upgrades as it looks to take the next step in its championship quest. However, any deal for Morant would be complicated. His declining performance this season, shooting just 35.8% from the field and 14.8% from three, raises questions about his current value. The Timberwolves would likely have to part with significant assets while also dealing with luxury tax implications.
Krawczynski emphasized that nothing seems imminent, but that Minnesota’s interest is real. If the Timberwolves continue to struggle to find a consistent playmaker and Memphis remains dysfunctional until the end of December, the team could more seriously explore that possibility.
For now, it’s a situation worth watching closely.
