How Phoenix will rally behind Jalen Green after his injury setback

What was supposed to be a dynamic backcourt duo could be short-lived, thanks another Jalen Green hamstring injury. When the newest member Phoenix Suns playing alongside Devin Booker felt like a match made in heaven.

The latter is smart to get to his place and let the game come to him. For Green, he is a real threat downhill and puts instant pressure on the basket with his athleticism. Not to mention, elite shot creation is essential.

After all, Green scored 29 points in 23 minutes in his first game with Phoenix. One game later and seven minutes after that, he re-injured his hamstring on a drive and hobbled back to the locker room.

Booker understands known hamstring injuries, but knows his backfield counterpart it will be just fine.

“It’s tough. I’ve definitely been through it. We’re going to rally around him,” Booker said after Saturday’s 114-103 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, via AZCentral’s Duane Rankin.

Considering how hard he’s worked and the frustration involved in the recovery process, the hamstring injury seems like another dagger. Still, Greene remains optimistic, which caught the attention of Royce O’Neill.

“I checked on him. He’s in good spirits,” O’Neal said through Rankin. “It’s awful to see him go down with the hamstring again, but we’ll keep it. Make sure he does it right.”

Someone who thought the young guard was “right” health-wise would be head coach Jordan Ott. Although he is not a physical trainer, but a head trainer, Ott remained optimistic that Green will be back before the Suns’ season begins when he was first injured.

Fast forward to another setback and that optimism could disappear. For a first-year coach, he sympathizes with Green, but knows what his team is about it must work collectively.

“You just feel him. He worked so hard to come back,” Ott said, via Rankin. “This team will have no excuses. We tie them up, go out and play.”

It is not known how long Green will be out. Regardless of the injury, Phoenix has won its last three games and continues to show growing chemistry.

However long he is out, it will already be one of the biggest hypotheticals of the season whether the Suns continue their run of success or not.
