Jason Kidd reveals the latest on Anthony Davis’ injuries

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night without Anthony Davis, who remains sidelined with a left calf strain. Before the contest, the head coach of the Mavs Jason Kidd provided an update on the Mavericks star.

“He was on the floor today,” Kidd told AD. “He’s making progress. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow.”

The Mavs are taking a cautious approach to Davis’ injury situation. Davis’ injury history he’s impossible to ignore, and Dallas doesn’t want to rush him back. Rumors have suggested that AD wants to return as soon as possible, but the big man will be out on Monday against the Bucks.

The Mavericks will try to contain Giannis without Anthony Davis

With AD set to miss a sixth straight game, the Mavs will have a tough time keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo. Dereck Lively II is also out, which will only open up the paint even more for Giannis. The good news is that Daniel Gafford is available, but keeping Giannis will require a complete team effort.

The Mavericks will enter the game at 3-7 overall. There’s no question Dallas has underachieved, but it’s still early in the 2025-26 campaign. Although fan frustration continues to mount, the Mavs could still turn things around. However, health will be of utmost importance if they are to achieve that feat.

The Mavericks will host the Bucks on Monday night at 7:30pm EST. The contest marks the first of a crucial four-game home stretch for Dallas as the team hopes to turn its season around.
