Giannis Antetokounmpo has pleaded not aware of the ‘Fire Nico’ chants during the Mavericks game
On Monday night, The Milwaukee Bucks picked themselves up victory on the road via the Dallas Mavericks in clutch fashion to push their record to 7-4 in the young 2025-26 NBA season. The Bucks fell behind in this one late, but in the end, buckets by Ryan Rollins and Kyle Kuzma in the final seconds helped seal the win.
The game turned out to be the last for the Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrisonwho was fired Tuesday morning after fans clamored for his job for months.
During Monday’s game, fans in the arena could be heard chanting “Fire Nico,” as they have been known since he traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, and after the game the Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo he pleaded ignorance when asked about it.
“That’s what they were saying? I couldn’t understand what they were saying,” Antetokounmpo said, per Bucks on X, formerly Twitter.
Fans inside the arena finally got their wish on Tuesday, and it remains to be seen who the Mavericks will select as their next general manager.
Good start for the Bucks

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks have enjoyed a relatively strong start to the 2025-26 NBA season, with Antetokounmpo playing like the best player in the world and the team getting unexpectedly strong contributions from players like Rollins.
The Bucks are now 7-4, and while it’s obviously still early, it looks like they could surprise some pundits who predicted them to be a lower-ranked team, even in a weakened Eastern Conference.
Antetokounmpo will need to continue to produce at this elite level to keep Milwaukee afloat, and it remains to be seen if some of the hot offense of unsung role players can be sustained over an 82-game season.
So far, however, the Bucks are doing well. They will next take the floor on Wednesday night when they host the Charlotte Hornets.
