How the Heat’s New Offense Made Jaime Jaquez Jr. “grows” to a great extent
MIAMI – While it is Miami Heat’s victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers will be highlighted by Andrew Wiggins and his game-winning dunk to give the team a 140-138 overtime victory on Monday were many contributions in the game. One of it was the return of Heat star Jaime Jaquez Jr.impressing once again after a sophomore slump from last season.
In the win over the Cavaliers, Jaquez would score 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, along with a career-high 13 rebounds and seven assists. As Miami showcases a new and improved offense that focuses on driving to the rim and up-tempo, it has unlocked the best version of Yakuza, as Erik Spoelstra mentioned how he grew up.
“Jaime is really growing,” Spoelstra said. “He’s so ready with the aggression now. He plays enough to keep the defense honest. But every possession he gets you has to be locked down defensively to keep him off.”
Erik Spoelstra talks about Norman Powell being a constant presence on the team, saying he’s a “proven, versatile, powerful shooter.”

Jaquez would help Miami tie the game at the end of regulation, hitting a mid-range turnaround floater. Spoelstra would then speak at a level of confidence to put the ball in his hands.
“But the confidence level is more about moments, if he gets stuck, everybody gets more confidence that he’s fine,” Spoelstra said. “He’s grown tremendously with it, and he doesn’t need 20 assists, but if he can get 4, 5, 6, 7 assists, it’s only going to help his offense. … But then you get to that point in the game, you might not be able to get to the rim, you might not be able to make the right play and you’re going up the middle.”
Heat’s Jaime Jaquez Jr. about improving during the summer

With Heat is a new and improved attack which has the fastest pace in the league at 106.58 possessions per 48 minutes, it has led to improvement in many players. No player benefited more from the attack, arguably, than Jaquez, who allowed him to return to his advantage. and create more spaceas he points out.
“We have a lot of space out there,” Jaquez said. “That’s really what it is, with guys like me, Davion, get into the paint, we’re just surrounded by shooters. So, you know, it really opens up a lot of driving lanes for us to get in there and make plays. And you know, when guys shoot open shots, they’re good. They’re going to make them. So, you know, this allows us so much space to drive and that allows us a lot of space to drive. then it’s just on us to make the right play.”
Jaime Jaquez Jr. was asked about improving the clutch situation under the new offense:

When he talked about the shot that would have helped Miami extend the game into overtime, he would think back over the summer to clutch situations from last season, what he could have done better.
“I’m just trying to get the right read,” Jaquez said. “It’s really great with this offense, a lot of guys are moving, so I have a lot of targets to hit. So when it all adds up, it ends up making my reads a lot easier.”
Jaquez and Miami look to continue as the team faces the Cavaliers again on Wednesday.
